It is advisable to use IN when you are indicating a position for spaces with limitations. IN is used to convey that something is contained or inside. For example, – The bee is in the beehive. – The mail in the mailbox. – The file is in the disk. _ The flowers are in the vase ON is used to denote a position for surfaces or a position just above or outside an area. Example, – The book is placed on the table. – Charlie sat on the chair. – Jane had a tattoo on his arm. IN is used to denote a moment enclosed in time. It is therefore used with other parts of the day, with months, with years, with seasons. ON is used with days and dates. Also, it may be used in special parts of the day and special holidays. En ambas se usa IN, ON, AT; por lo cual primero es necesario identificar en qué aspecto la estamos usando. - En caso de que sea de TIEMPO: Hablamos desde lo más general (IN) a lo más específico (AT) — IN: Para referirnos a un tiempo inespecífico del día, del mes, una estación o un año. Aquí hay algunos ejemplos: “I always brush my teeth in the morning.” “My birthday is in June.” “It’s always cold in winter.” “My brother was born in 1999.” — ON: Se utiliza para fechas y días específicos. Aquí están algunos ejemplos: “He was born on September 24th.” “I go to the gym on Mondays and Wednesdays.” — AT: Se utiliza para un tiempo en específico. Por ejemplo: “I will see you at 8:00 pm.” “My interview is at 3:00 pm.” En algunos casos es fácil confundirse con ON o AT, por ejemplo, cuando decimos “Christmas” se ocupa ON ya que estamos hablando de una festividad específica, pero si decimos “Christmas Day” es AT, ya que es específicamente el día de Navidad. - En caso que sea de LUGAR: — IN: Utilizada para referirnos cuando se está DENTRO. En este caso, para indicar una ubicación o lugar. En el caso de lugares geográficos, ya que si decimos “I live in Argentina” se entiende que solo puedes vivir en Argentina si estás dentro. Aquí están algunos ejemplos: “I used to live in Florida.” “The city of Bangkok is in Thailand.” “I am in my room.” (Estás dentro de la pieza) — ON: Se utiliza cuando estamos hablando de una superficie.
